Global Reach II (GRII) strengthens HIV prevention and treatment in Sierra Leone.
Funded by PEPFAR and implemented in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, GRII has contributed to a 200% increase in people receiving antiretroviral therapy, expanded viral load monitoring across supported sites, and scaled prevention programs—including PrEP—from 4 to 7 districts, with client initiation rising from 1,300 in 2021 to over 16,000 in 2025.
The project has advanced prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS and pediatric HIV services, providing antiretroviral therapy to 3,582 HIV-positive women, managing 3,392 HIV-exposed infants, conducting 2,581 early infant diagnosis tests, and achieving a 3% mother-to-child transmission rate compared to the national average of 11%.
