Jhpiego established a national-level Technical and Advisory Committee for maternal immunization and developed assessment tools to measure health facilities’ readiness for maternal immunizations.
Despite progress, many women and girls in Bangladesh, especially in Cox’s Bazar, continue to face limited access to quality sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence services due to gaps in health infrastructure, workforce capacity, and community awareness.
Since 2022, with assistance from UNFPA and funding from the World Bank, this project has significantly advanced efforts in advocacy, training at the national level, and raising community awareness about the importance of access to quality sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence services.
Jhpiego is working to improve access to and use of integrated services for sexual and reproductive health, as well as strengthen support for gender-based violence prevention and response in health facilities across districts, sub-districts, and communities.
In Cox’s Bazar, Jhpiego has established midwifery-led services that provide essential care such as antenatal services, postnatal care, and 24/7 support for vaginal deliveries at 20 Union Health and Family Welfare Centers. Additionally, support for gender-based violence is available at the District Sadar Hospital and seven Upazila Health Complexes.
We strengthen reproductive and maternal health services by building the capacity of health workers and facilities to deliver high-quality care. This included providing hands-on training, mentoring, and supportive supervision around long-acting reversible contraception, permanent methods, maternal and newborn health, and infection prevention and control.
