नमस्कार

Supporting innovative health interventions for women and children since the 1980s.

Selected Achievements

  • Jhpiego supported the Ministry of Health and Population in developing Nepal’s own Small and Sick Newborns (SSNB) Model of Care. The model was pilot tested in four level II hospitals in Bagmati Province and has since been scaled to Koshi, Gandaki and Sudurpashchim Provinces.

  • Since October 2022, Jhpiego has reached 17,590 newborns across seven sites in the Koshi and Bagmati Provinces through the Small and Sick Newborns (SSNB) Model of Care.

  • Jhpiego supported the Government of Nepal in developing the country’s first scorecard for maternal and perinatal death surveillance and response (MPDSR) based on indicators from the World Health Organization’s implementation guide. The scorecard helps track progress on action plans. It has been digitized, linked with reporting forms, and integrated into Nepal’s web-based MPDSR system.

Current Projects

Improving Access to Lifesaving Health Services

MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership

  • MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership, funded by the United States Government, is a global mechanism that saves lives and improves access to quality, integrated health services by distributing life-saving commodities, medicines, and vaccines, and providing critical health care services for pregnant mothers and children under five. The project provides safe childbirth for mothers and babies, vaccinates children, treats deadly illnesses and malnutrition, and controls disease outbreaks.

Adolescent-friendly health care

  • Jhpiego Nepal focuses on improving access to adolescent-friendly reproductive health services, building life skills, and fostering supportive environments for adolescents across Nepal. Led by CARE Nepal, with Jhpiego as a consortium partner, we worked with adolescents ages 10-19 to help them make informed and healthy reproductive health choices.

Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Response

  • Funded by UNFPA, this project focused on strengthening the capacity of health institutions and service providers to plan, implement, and monitor comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services.
