Advancing HPV vaccination and cervical cancer prevention through research and country expertise.
October 22-25, 2026 | Athens, Greece
38th Annual Conference of the International Papillomavirus Society
As a global leader in HPV vaccination and cervical cancer prevention, Jhpiego works with countries to introduce and expand HPV vaccination and explore new ways to integrate HPV vaccinations into other health services for adolescents. We’re excited to share our latest research and learnings at the 38th Annual International Papillomavirus Society (IPVS) Conference and to contribute to the global conversation on HPV vaccination and cervical cancer prevention.

FEATURED SESSIONS
Gavi & Jhpiego Side Event: Integrating Adolescent Health and HPV Vaccination For Cervical Cancer Prevention: Operational Lessons For Scale From 11 Gavi-Supported LMICs
October 22 | 15:00 - 16:30 | Hall MC2
This interactive 90-minute session will challenge the scientist in all of us to step into the world and community of a girl who is not yet aware of or protected against cervical cancer, to engage in a community dialogue lead by selected authors of Gavi’s recently concluded learning portfolio of implementation research across 11 low-and-middle-income countries, studying how cross-sectoral integration of preventive services for adolescents can optimize immunization and primary care outcomes in Asia and Africa.
Session attendees will a) reflect on implementation approaches to integrating HPV vaccine delivery within adolescent health programs; b) engage in facilitated conversation with LMIC study investigators and implementers to distinguish transferable versus context-specific lessons for cervical cancer prevention; and c) identify priority learning questions and implementation considerations to support scale-up.
The format will open with a moderated panel between four implementor and investigator voices around the implications from the collective learning agenda, conversation about the unfinished agenda and conclude with a facilitated pair-share and audience poll of how findings apply to policy, program and future research.
Sustaining HPV Vaccination Within Routine Immunization Systems: Evidence From Real-World Implementation
October 23 | 18:30 - 19:30 | MC2 Hall
A CHIC Event in collaboration with University of Antwerp and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
This session explores how integrating HPV vaccination within existing immunization systems can improve efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen long-term programme sustainability. Drawing on real-world implementation experience from LMICs, the session examines how countries are adapting their programme structures, delivery models, and financing approaches in the context of the Gavi 6.0 Leap Strategy and the shift toward consolidated immunization grant cycles — changes that require countries to optimize resource use now, not later. By the end of the session, participants will be able to: outline the evolving funding landscape and opportunities available to LMICs; identify programmatic adaptations that have supported sustainability in different contexts; understand how routine immunization platforms can be leveraged across planning, costing, delivery and reporting; and draw on comparative country experiences—spanning different stages of programme maturity—to inform future HPV vaccination programme design.
Cervical Cancer Elimination Lab: Accelerating 90–70–90 Under Real-World Constraints
October 24 | 8:00 - 9:00 | MC2 Hall
This session focuses on accelerating progress toward the 90-70-90 cervical cancer elimination targets by strengthening how programs prioritize and sequence actions across HPV vaccination, screening, and treatment. The objectives are to share country experience on what has made the biggest difference, identify approaches that have worked across settings, and generate new thinking participants can adapt in their own contexts. The session addresses a core challenge: progress is often limited by policy and financing bottlenecks, workforce capacity, uneven access to diagnostics and treatment, and demand and service delivery gaps, making it difficult to advance all three pillars in parallel. It is timely because countries are translating elimination commitments into scale-up while operating within constrained fiscal space and competing priorities. The session brings together Ministries of Health, funders (Unitaid, Gavi), and partners. It combines concise country perspectives with an interactive, hands-on exercise that stress-tests programme choices under real-world constraints.
