Momentum
Country and Global Leadership

MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership, funded by the United States Government, is a global mechanism that saves lives and improves access to quality, integrated health services by distributing life-saving commodities, medicines, and vaccines, and providing critical health care services for pregnant mothers and children under five. The project provides safe childbirth for mothers and babies, vaccinates children, treats deadly illnesses and malnutrition, and controls disease outbreaks.

The project has partnered with local entities—including ministries of health, the private sector, and faith-based organizations—in more than 20 countries to deliver this life-saving targeted assistance, accelerating progress and strengthening health institutions’ abilities to provide health services into the future. By saving women, babies, and children, preventing malnutrition, and addressing health security, MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership not only creates goodwill for the United States but makes America safer, stronger, and more prosperous.

For Midwife Masri, an Unexpected Exam Turns into a Career Calling

Masri Ndoen’s path to becoming a midwife was anything but expected. Cajoled by her friends to tag along as they took the entry exam for nursing school, Masri decided to take the test herself—and was the only one among her friends to pass it. That paved the way for a career in midwifery that would eventually lead her to a position managing a community health care system.

In six countries with focused clinical support, MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership has reached 8.1 million women, newborns, and children under five with lifesaving services.
